Saturday night’s showdown between Diaz-Maynard will mark their third meeting. The first came on TUF 5 with Diaz picking up the win, so Maynard had a lot of additional motivation entering their 2010 tilt. Diaz came ready to rumble as well and the two turned in a competitive effort. When the dust settled, Maynard’s output was effective enough to eke out a Split Decision win even if it wasn’t the prettiest performance of his career.
UFC lightweight Gray Maynard only has eleven wins on his record but, impressively, he can still lay claim to plenty of noteworthy wins against high-level adversaries inside the Octagon. The 34-year old originally entered the organization with a 2-0 mark and promptly went on to find a string of success after TUF 5 including triumphs over a former champion and two former title-contenders.
