Diaz’s win over Gamburyan helped launch his UFC career in a significant way since it involved the Ultimate Fighter 5 championship. Of course, it also came as the result of an injury in a bout Gamburyan appeared to be on track to win. Then again, it’s difficult to predict the future so fans will always have a “what if” approach to the outing. Regardless, it was an important moment in Diaz’s career and capped off a solid run on the reality show including success against Rob Emerson and Gray Maynard.
UFC lightweight Nate Diaz (16-9) has experienced a handful of highs and lows during his run in the ring but never shown inconsistency in terms of his ability to entertain fans. The 28-year old Californian has been impressing in the Octagon or more than six years but could see his future in jeopardy unless able to avoid the first three-fight losing streak of his career when he faces Gray Maynard this weekend at the Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale.
