On paper, this pairing appeared to be evenly matched and destined for “Fight of the Night” honors. Adding to the hype, Cerrone and Diaz had a personal issue going into the tilt. UFC lightweight Nate Diaz (16-9) has experienced a handful of highs and lows during his run in the ring but never shown inconsistency in terms of his ability to entertain fans. The 28-year old Californian has been impressing in the Octagon or more than six years but could see his future in jeopardy unless able to avoid the first three-fight losing streak of his career when he faces Gray Maynard this weekend at the Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale.
