At the time, it looked like Bader was on his way to challenging for a championship after picking up a quartet of consecutive wins in the Octagon. However, Nogueira offered up a genuine obstacle as a seasoned, skilled veteran with plenty of significant success under his belt. Though the Brazilian’s blend of boxing and BJJ made winning difficult, Bader’s wrestling ability proved to be too much for Nogueira and assisted him en route to an impressive Unanimous Decision win.
UFC light heavyweight Ryan Bader (15-4) looked like a future star after his run on the Ultimate Fighter 8 and, for the most part, has lived up to the hype. Though he’s suffered a few stumbles in the Octagon, three of his losses came against former champions and the fourth involved the division’s current #1 contender.
