Matt Brown Injured, Fight With Carlos Condit Off UFC On FOX 9

Matt Brown suffered two herniated discs in his back, forcing him out of a planned welterweight encounter with Carlos Condit next week at UFC on FOX 9.

In place of Brown-Condit, Joe Lauzon and Mac Danzig have been promoted to the FOX-televised main card.

“Thanks for the support guys. I regret to inform all that I am out of the fight with Condit,” Brown posted on Twitter. “I herniated 2 discs in my lower back this week.”

Brown (18-11) has won six straight and placed himself in a position to challenge Condit (29-7), a former interim UFC welterweight champion. No word yet if or when the bout will be rescheduled.

NOOOOOOOOO! I love Matt Brown and was really looking forward to this one, I want to see how he deals with a fighter like Condit. Hopefully Matt gets healed quickly and this can be rescheduled early next year.

I’m not a big Matt Brown fan but he has intrigued me with his run in the division. I was really looking forward to seeing him against a higher level opponent like Condit. Hopefully it won’t be a long layoff and the fight can be quickly rescheduled.
