WSOF lightweight title challenger Justin Gaethje earned the Boost Mobile “Rattle the Cage” award for his efforts at WSOF 6. The rising lightweight star was awarded $5,500 last night at WSOF 7 after winning the social media-based contest.
Gaethje earned the aware by chopping down Dan Lauzon this past October at WSOF 6. The former college wrestler used kicks to slow down the younger Lauzon brother before finishing him with a brutal second round uppercut. Gaethje’s performance was enough to merit a strong voting presence that allowed him to top several top performers on the main card.
The rising prospect will now set his sights on the inaugural lightweight title when he faces Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante for the belt this January at WSOF 8. The promotion will name their WSOF 7 “Rattle the Cage” winner at the January event, with fans being able to vote using the hashtag #rattlethecage for who they believe was the top performer on last night’s NBC Sports Network fight card.
