“Of course I was disappointed with that loss against Stout. I was really close to that title shot and it slipped out of my hands. But that was then, this is now. My focus right now is Mac Danzig and only him. I would like to put a nice string of wins together but it starts with Mac. 100 percent him and I don’t care what anybody else is doing, it’s all about him.” (PHOTO CREDIT: Robbie Petersen-MMAWeekly)
UFC lightweight Joe Lauzon (22-9) has endeared himself to fans over the past seven years as an unassuming, self-admitted nerd who also happens to be one helluva fighter. The 29-year old is tied with Anderson Silva for the most performance-based bonuses in the organization’s history and can also boast about having finished all 22 of the opponents he’s beaten. However, Lauzon will be out to avoid his third straight loss when he meets Mac Danzig (21-11-1) this Saturday night at UFC on FOX 9. “J-Lau” recently spoke with UFC.com about the pressure brought on by falling in back-to-back bouts, facing an opponent he likes on a personal level, why being in a “Fight of the Night” is not all it is cracked up to be, and more.
