As Ronda Rousey continues to prepare for her highly anticipated rematch with Miesha Tate at UFC 168, the name Holly Holm is reaching more and more MMA fans, thanks to the fighter’s impressive run.
If you don’t know much about Holm yet, the 32 year-old is a world champion boxer who transitioned into pro MMA in 2011, and has gone 6-0 since. Not only that, but she’s recorded some ridiculously memorable stoppage wins along the way (see one here).
So in other words, “The Preacher’s Daughter” has been causing a bit of buzz as of late, and the UFC and Dana White have noticed. More recently, in fact, Holm’s manager relayed to Sherdog.com, that they’re hoping to land her a six figure contract with the UFC…
While it remains to be seen if the UFC offers up the sweet deal that Holm’s camp is looking for, according to the promotion’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey, she’s hoping the skilled pugilist winds up in the Octagon. Here is some of what Rousey had to say about Holm recently (comments via MMA Junkie.com):
“I would love to fight Holly Holm,” Rousey said. “I would absolutely love to fight Holly Holm.”
“I really hope that the UFC picks Holly up and that I get to fight her before I retire,” she said.
Rousey also noted that right now she’s focused on Miesha Tate, then Cat Zingano and Sara McMann. Hopefully Holm winds up in the Octagon sometime in 2014.
In the meantime, UFC 168 will go down December 28th, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
