Voelker is an aggressive, entertaining fighter. However, he’s not particularly polished or skilled in any single discipline as evident by his 0-2 mark in the Octagon and mixed success in smaller promotions. At 34 years old, Voelker doesn’t have time to grow so his leash is already short from that standpoint. Throw in the fact he’s facing an opponent with a fifth of his experience who is also coming off a loss, and there’s no question Voelker needs to win or will otherwise be released. It’s important to come away triumphant any time an individual takes to the Octagon. However, victory is crucial in the case of five fighters on tap for tilts at UFC 168. In some instances, competitors are at risk of being cut by the promotion, while other athletes will see their respective stock take a major hit unless exiting the cage with a win in tow.
