“I look at it as he’s in my way. I have faced the tougher competition in the UFC and I have more fights than him in the UFC. The level of competition I’ve faced is higher. I have more wins than he does in the UFC. I’m really confident going into this fight. It would be good to start another win streak and start 2014 on the right root. UFC featherweight Dustin Poirier has three losses on his record but only one that truly irks him. This past February, Poirier stepped up to the plate to face Cub Swanson as a replacement with less than a month to prepare. The 24-year old was beaten badly and is still bothered by the loss. Earning an eventual shot at redemption is one of the many factors motivating “The Diamond” entering his December 28 tilt against Diego Brandao at UFC 168. Poirier spoke to UFC.com about the challenge at hand, the fight he wants, an added bonus to his training camp, and much more.
