UFC president Dana White reaffirmed that Vitor Belfort will face the winner of UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva during a pre-fight press conference on Thursday for UFC 168.
Weidman and Silva will square off this Saturday night from Las Vegas.
“I think Vitor has earned the right to face whoever the winner is,” White stated. “He has been out there fighting, taking on all comers. He is next in line; no doubt about it.”
Belfort finished 2013 with a perfect 3-0 record, defeating Michael Bisping, Luke Rockhold and Dan Henderson – all via finishes.
Back in 2011, Silva successfully defended his title with a first round knockout of Belfort. “The Phenom” also fought for the UFC light heavyweight title in 2012, losing to Jon Jones via submission.
