Bobby Voelker’s willingness to take fights on short notice and stand and trade has kept him employed with the UFC.
Voelker, who suffered a third straight Octagon loss to William Macario over the weekend at UFC 168, was informed by UFC president Dana White that he has job security.
After coming over from Strikeforce, Voelker stepped in to face current contender Robbie Lawler with just weeks to prepare. He also lost to Patrick Cote, a former title-contender.
“He’s 0-3 and not going anywhere,” White said. “He took the Lawler fight on short notice and (Saturday), he was busted up and (kept) moving forward.
“(He) keeps trying to win.”
White and other UFC executives have shown a passion for keeping fighters like Voelker. They previously gave Dan Hardy another shot after a string of consecutive defeats.
