UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been rumored for a super-fight with Anderson Silva for the past few years.
While that is highly unlikely to ever happen now, Jones remains a true fan of “The Spider.”
Over the weekend, Silva suffered a broken leg in a loss to Chris Weidman for the UFC middleweight title. Jones offered up his thoughts and prayers to the Brazilian through Twitter.
“Just want to thank Anderson Silva for the years of entertainment and inspiration. Pain is temporary, your legacy will be talked about for generations,” Jones wrote. “Congratulations on achieving greatness. Honored to have been a witness.”
A fan asked Jones if he thought Silva’s career inside the Octagon was over, to which “Bones” stated, “Fighting? yes. Career wise? skies the limit.”
Silva has picked up numerous sponsorship deals with the likes of Nike and Burger King during his fighting career, along with having a documentary filmed on him prior to his first fight with Chael Sonnen.
