When it comes to the phrase “been around the block”, few fighters have earned that descriptor as much as Josh Thomson. In his time in the cage, he’s held the Strikeforce lightweight championship belt, once fought Yves Edwards in the UFC to be crowned the unofficial 155-pound champ there (the UFC has scrapped the division at the time), and on Saturday night, he gets to headline UFC on FOX 10 opposite ex-champ Benson Henderson. But it sometimes seems as if Thomson’s time away from the Octagon has made him somewhat of a mystery to the casual fan, and though his drubbing of Nate Diaz was certainly thrilling at UFC on FOX 7, many are left scratching their heads when it comes to knowing his personality.
Well, the UFC heard those complaints, and they’ve provided the following video in response. Remember when Gilbert Melendez fought Diego Sanchez at UFC 166? During that fight, a camera was trained on Thomson as he sat and watched in the audience. This, then, is a snapshot of Thomson’s personality. Enjoy.
