Count Benson Henderson among those not in the corner of pairing UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis with UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo next.
Coming off a decision victory over Josh Thomson, Henderson believes he is due a title shot. “Smooth” lost the belt to Pettis last year via first round submission.
Over the weekend, Aldo successfully defended his title vs. Ricardo Lamas and spoke of moving up to 155 pounds to challenge Pettis. “Showtime” gladly accepted, and the wheels appear to be in motion for the fight to happen.
Henderson, though, took to Twitter after that news was made public and expressed his frustrations.
“U gotta be kidding me?!…my mama taught me to be a better man n keep my mouth shut if I don’t have anything nice to say, I’m out,” he wrote.
Later, in response to a fan asking what was wrong, Henderson posted, “Title shot drama…I’m goin on my honeymoon to forget about this horse manure.”
Henderson was married just days before his fight with Thomson last month. Two of his three career losses have come at the hands of Pettis – once in the WEC by decision and the loss last year.
After winning the title via decision against Frankie Edgar, Henderson successfully defended the belt against Nate Diaz and Gilbert Melendez.
