Count Ben Henderson Among Those Not In Favor Of Aldo-Pettis

Count Benson Henderson among those not in the corner of pairing UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis with UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo next.

Coming off a decision victory over Josh Thomson, Henderson believes he is due a title shot. “Smooth” lost the belt to Pettis last year via first round submission.

Over the weekend, Aldo successfully defended his title vs. Ricardo Lamas and spoke of moving up to 155 pounds to challenge Pettis. “Showtime” gladly accepted, and the wheels appear to be in motion for the fight to happen.

Henderson, though, took to Twitter after that news was made public and expressed his frustrations.

“U gotta be kidding me?!…my mama taught me to be a better man n keep my mouth shut if I don’t have anything nice to say, I’m out,” he wrote.

Later, in response to a fan asking what was wrong, Henderson posted, “Title shot drama…I’m goin on my honeymoon to forget about this horse manure.”

Henderson was married just days before his fight with Thomson last month. Two of his three career losses have come at the hands of Pettis – once in the WEC by decision and the loss last year.

After winning the title via decision against Frankie Edgar, Henderson successfully defended the belt against Nate Diaz and Gilbert Melendez.

Much as I’d love to see aldo vs Pettis, it should be a catchweight with no belt attached. Pettis hasnt even defended the belt yet, it doesnt make sense other than for also to be the only ever UFC fighter to hold titles at the same time. Seems only aldo really benefits from it, and I’m not sure the UFC are going to do him any favors right now

I like Henderson a lot, but not everybody gets a title shot after losing the belt and one win. Dana even said before the fight if Ben wasnt that impressive he wasnt getting it. I feel he is one, maybe two fights away at most as Aldo moving up vs Pettis is a huge fight and one the UFC dose not want to let go. It sounds like Aldo will drop the belt and move to LW for good.

Benson shouldn’t even be saying shit the only ppl who thought he won that fight against Thomson were the two judges. He looked awful against josh and shouldn’t even be in the title talk yet.
