The UFC has set a great women’s bantamweight bout between TUF 18’s Shayna Baszler and Sarah Kaufman for The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale. The bout was announced by the UFC earlier today but the fight’s placement on the fight card has yet to be announced.
Sarah Kaufman has been searching for a fight since her controversial split decision loss – that was recently overturned – to Jessica Eye at UFC 166. Kaufman rallied to replace the injured Julianna Pena earlier this year but the bout went to Raquel Pennington instead. The former champion will now welcome “The Queen of Spades” Shayna Baszler to the Octagon.
Baszler has long been one of the more respect WMMA fighters in the sport and will finally get her official Octagon debut. A heavy favorite to win TUF 18, Baszler was upset by the eventual champion, Pena, after getting caught in the second round. The loss was one the bigger upsets of 2013 and was particularly surprising after Baszler looked strong in Round 1. The Invicta FC vet will now get a shot at redemption when the promotion heads to Quebec.
The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale takes place at the Colisee Pepsi in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada on April 16 and will be headlined by a middleweight showdown between Michael Bisping and Tim Kennedy.
