“UFC Tonight” brought with it plenty of news and information Wednesday night, including updates on Frank Mir and a potential match between Jose Aldo and Anthony Pettis.
Mir, a former UFC heavyweight champion, was dealt his fourth consecutive defeat at the hands of Alistair Overeem recently.
According to a report by Ariel Helwani, Mir’s manager believes he still wants to fight in the UFC and he doesn’t want to go anywhere else. UFC president Dana White told Helwani he hasn’t talked to Mir yet.
As for the potential battle between UFC champions in Aldo and Pettis, that remains uncertain. Pettis is slated to meet with his doctor soon in regards to his knee injury, and that will go a long way in determining if “Showtime” can return in July.
White, though, believes Aldo, the UFC featherweight champion, could be scheduled before that time to defend his belt again. No opponent was mentioned for that fight.
