Matthew Riddle remained unbeaten in his last five fights, scoring a submission victory over Michael Kuiper in the co-main event of Titan FC 27 Friday night.
Riddle, who was released from the UFC last year after failing a second post-fight drug test, locked in a standing guillotine after catching Kuiper on a scramble in the second round.
“I knew I had the switch,” Riddle said. “The switch created that scramble that led to the guillotine.”
Riddle (8-3) won all four of his last UFC fights, but two were changed to no-contests after the failed tests. After displaying his strong wrestling early, Kuiper fired back with a takedown of his own – much to the surprise of Riddle.
“He overpowered me,” he said. “All I could do was laugh and smile about it.”
