Junior Dos Santos-Stipe Miocic Inserted Into Co-Headline Act At UFC 173

Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos will return to the Octagon at UFC 173, taking on Stipe Miocic.

The battle of contenders will go down May 24 from MGM Grand Garden Arena. Chris Weidman and Lyoto Machida in a battle for the UFC middleweight title is the headline fight.

Dos Santos (16-3) is coming off a second setback to current champion Cain Velasquez. He is 10-2 overall in his UFC career, including wins over the likes of Frank Mir, Roy Nelson and Velasquez.

Miocic (11-1) has rebounded from a 2012 TKO loss to Stefan Struve by earning decisions over both Nelson and former contender Gabriel Gonzaga. He is 5-1 with the promotion.
