Myles Jury expected a three-round war with Diego Sanchez at UFC 171 Saturday night.
Instead, Jury walked out of the Octagon with an easy – at least in his words – win over the former winner of The Ultimate Fighter.
Jury (14-0) is now tied with a host of others with five straight victories at lightweight. He has downed the likes of Sanchez, Mike Ricci and Michael Johnson.
“Not to sound cocky, but just beating him so easily (surprised me),” Jury said. “Not sounding cocky. He is a household name, a warrior and I feel he has the biggest heart in the UFC.”
Using his precision striking, Jury “gave him a pretty good beating” through the first round, cutting up Sanchez with a right-hand. The TUF alum continued to get the better of Sanchez on the feet, and also scored a handful of takedowns.
“I am a technical fighter, but I always have my heart as a backup,” he said. “I work hard in the gym with Alliance MMA.”
