The circle of fights for Daniel Cormier has turned back to Dan Henderson for the time being.
UFC president Dana White came out on Twitter after the report was posted saying “That fight is not done.”
Cormier (14-0) made his light heavyweight debut earlier this year, defeating Patrick Cummins. He was originally scheduled to meet former champion Rashad Evans, but a knee injury knocked Evans out.
Henderson (30-11) snapped a three-fight losing skid with a TKO victory vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in Brazil. He posted on Twitter that he is just now returning to the U.S. after spending a few extra days relaxing in the country.
If Cormier-Henderson is signed, it will pit two former U.S. Olympic wrestlers against one another. Cormier was on the 2004 and ’08 teams, while Henderson took part in the 1992 and ’96 Olympic Games.
