Hector Lombard is being patient as other welterweight contenders secure fights for the summer.
Lombard, who bested Jake Shields this past March via decision to improve to 3-2 inside the Octagon, was rumored for a potential fight with Nick Diaz, according to UFC president Dana White.
White, though, has yet to hear back from Diaz, and Lombard isn’t sweating it one bit.
“Everybody’s got a fight but me but I trust the UFC,” he posted on Instagram. “They always make the big fights happen.”
Lombard is a former Bellator champion who signed with the UFC while still holding the belt. He debuted in 2012 and lost a split decision to Tim Boetsch. After knocking out Rousimar Palhares, he was defeated – via split decision – to Yushin Okami.
A return in late 2013 saw “Lightning” knock Nate Marquardt out in just under two minutes.
The UFC’s welterweight division is at a stand-still as champion Johny Hendricks recovers from surgery. Tyron Woodley and Rory MacDonald have signed to meet, as have Robbie Lawler and Jake Ellenberger, and Matt Brown and Erick Silva.
