Chad Laprise dominated Olivier Aubin-Mercier Wednesday night to become the first-ever Ultimate Fighter Nations winner, capturing the welterweight title.
Laprise, a member of Patrick Cote’s team on the show, improved to 8-0 with the victory.
“Words can’t describe how I feel right now,” Laprise said. “It’s truly amazing.”
Laprise landed 71 significant strikes and hit on 72 of 175 total strikes. Aubin-Mercier (4-1) connected on just 46 total strikes, but 45 were significant.
“I really wasn’t nervous at all,” he said. “I truly believe God put me here to be a fighter.”
The loss was the first for Aubin-Mercier, who is now 4-1.
