Caio Magalhaes has won three straight inside the Octagon, as the Brazilian finished Luke Zachrich Saturday afternoon at UFC on FOX 11.
Magalhaes (8-1) credited his training with No. 1 contender Glover Teixeira for preparing him to finish Zachrich.
“From getting hit by Glover, I think I learned how to (throw that strike),” Magalhaes said.
Magalhaes defeated Karlos Vemola and Nick Ring last year, including a submission win over Vemola since a 2012 loss to Buddy Roberts in his UFC debut. The knockout of Zachrich was his first such stoppage since 2010 in Brazil.
“My opponent was changed two weeks ago, but it was not enough time to change my game plan,” Magalhaes said. “I knew my past opponent wanted to come forward, so my plan was to go for it.”
The loss snapped a three-fight win streak for Zachrich (13-2), who was making his Octagon debut. That last loss came in 2010 in Bellator.
