Phil Davis has been doing his best to get under the skin of UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones this as both prepare for fights at Saturday’s UFC 172 card.
Davis, who tackles Anthony Johnson in the co-main event, stole the show during a conference call with reporters earlier this week. “Mr. Wonderful” asked questions himself of Jones, and the two engaged in a back-and-forth battle.
When it came to media day in Baltimore on Thursday, Davis tried to have a staredown with the champion and made several more remarks concerning him. Jones will defend his belt against Glover Teixeira in the main event.
Davis was asked by a reporter if Jones will agree to meet him should the opportunity arise for the former Penn State University NCAA wrestling champion to compete for the belt.
“We know Jon Jones won’t take a fight against me,” Davis boldly stated. “The only way it’s happen will be on ‘EA Sports: UFC.'”
Davis and Jones are the only fighters to hold wins over Alexander Gustafsson. Davis is currently on a three-fight win streak, including a win last August over Lyoto Machida.
