UFC 172 Numbers: Four Claim Bonuses

ufc 172

The UFC brought a stacked card to Baltimore Saturday night for UFC 172, and the fans showed up, as they generated $2.3 million in live gate with 13,485 fans packing the Baltimore Arena.

In the main event, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones defeated Glover Teixeira via decision. Anthony Johnson earned a co-main event victory over Phil Davis.

Takanori Gomi and Isaac Vallie-Flagg were named the “Fight of the Night,” while Joseph Benavidez and Chris Beal each were named “Performance of the Night” winners. All four picked up $50,000, but UFC president Dana White made it known that “I will be writing other checks for this card.”

The live gate was the second-largest for the arena, falling only to a concert by the Rolling Stones.

Anthony Johnson above all others deserves a ‘performance’ bonus for 172. Great event top to bottom, thats two back to back I’ve really enjoyed. Just a shame matt brown is the only fighter I care about on the next event

I loved that choke by Joe but I felt Rockholds inverted triangle to kimura was way more technical and he completly dominated that fight from start to finish, but what a great event where we got to see three legit outstanding submissions.
