UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones doesn’t gloat that much when it comes to his fellow fighters. But after seeing what transpired in the UFC 172 co-main event, “Bones” laughed last.
Phil Davis took it on himself all week leading up to the card to push Jones and try to “poke the bear.” Anthony Johnson, though, didn’t get the message that he was suppose to be a stepping stone, defeating Davis by decision.
“Phil Davis isn’t happy,” said Jones, who sang the Pharrell Williams hit “Happy” with Tim Kennedy during the post-fight press conference.
Jones proceeded to high-five Johnson across the podium before rehashing how he told Davis to stay focused heading into his own fight.
“I heard you had some good uppercuts,” Jones said, talking to Johnson. “Nice. Congratulations. Phil was talking all that greasiness and now he’s somewhere pouting.”
Davis was not at the post-fight press conference and offered just a simple message on his Twitter account, telling fan he was “Sorry” and thankful for the support.
