Vitor Belfort Discusses Why He Will Succeed Without TRT

Vitor Belfort

Vitor Belfort believes that, even without the use of TRT, he will be able to compete at the highest level. His reasoning: God.

Belfort, who was removed from a planned UFC middleweight title fight after the promotion decided to ban the use of TRT, has been working his way off the drug. He told Sensei Sportv in Brazil (thanks to MMAFighting.com for transcribing) about his new-found push.

“I feel like an animal,” Belfort said. “The Holy Spirit gives me everything. I’m training like an animal. Nobody trains harder than me.”

Belfort (24-10) earned three finishes last year in his native home of Brazil, stopping Michael Bisping, Luke Rockhold and Dan Henderson. That put him in line to challenge Chris Weidman before the Nevada Athletic Commission and the UFC decided to do away with TRT.

No timetable has been set for Belfort’s return, but he sounds like the sooner the better as far as “The Phenom” is concerned.

“People say, ‘Oh, you should retire,'” he said. “Yeah, you want me to retire so you won’t get knocked out. I won’t retire. I will be back and I will win.”
