UFN 40: Justin Salas Gets His Octagon Mark Above .500

ufc fight night 40

A couple takedowns, a couple failed takedowns and a big shot later, and Justin Salas had earned his third UFC victory. Salas defeated Ben Wall at UFC Fight Night 40 Saturday night with a first round knockout.

Salas (12-5) improved to 3-2 with the promotion, as he also topped Aaron Riley and Anton Kuivanen.

“I play to (my wrestling),” he said. “I am not trying to get a takedown every time I shoot. I am just hoping to get them moving backwards and drop their hands.

“I am always evolving.”

Salas landed a huge shot that stunned Wall before a left took him to the canvas. The 32-year-old from Wyoming needed just a few more punches to put Wall away for good and earn a win for his family.

“This fight goes out to my grandma and grandpa, my cousins, all of my family members not with us,” an emotional Salas said. “I want to live my life to the fullest. That one was for them. That was my best performance yet.”
