A handful of fighters, including main event competitors Matt Brown and Erick Silva, have received medical suspensions following UFC Fight Night 40. The event went down in Cincinnati this past Saturday, and the suspensions were handed out by the Ohio Athletic Commission.
Brown, who defeated Silva, will need to have clearance for a possible right elbow injury, while Silva needs clearance for a jaw injury. Both received minimum suspensions of 45 and 60 days, as well.
Eddie Wineland, who lost to Johnny Eduardo, was also suspended indefinitely, while Eduardo received a 30-day suspension for throwing his mouthpiece into the stands.
Lorenz Larkin, Erik Koch, Ruan Potts, Ed herman, Manny Gamburyan, Ben Wall and Anthony Lapsley all received medical suspensions, varying from 30 days to 60. The suspensions were first reported by MMAjunkie.com.
Most of the suspensions are for a certain amount of days, while others can be cleared up early by a doctor.
Matt Brown suspended for 45 days and additionally suspended indefinitely unless doctor clears right elbow.
Erick Silva suspended for 60 days and additionally suspended indefinitely unless doctor clears jaw.
Lorenz Larkin suspended for 60 days.
Erik Koch suspended for 30 days.
Ruan Potts suspended for 60 days.
Ed Herman suspended 30 days; additionally, suspended indefinitely unless doctor clears right hand.
Eddie Wineland suspended 60 days for TKO loss and stitches in lip area. Also suspended indefinitely without doctor’s clearance for possible broken jaw.
Johnny Eduardo suspended 30 days for unsportsmanlike conduct for throwing his mouthpiece into the stands.
Manny Gamburyan suspended indefinitely and needs ophthalmologist to clear right eye.
Ben Wall suspended for 60 days.
Anthony Lapsley suspended for 60 days.
