Former UFC light heavyweight title contender Glover Teixeira will not require surgery to repair his injured shoulder. Teixeira posted his report from the doctor on Twitter recently.
“Great news from Doc…no surgery needed on my shoulder right now,” Teixeira posted. “Thank u everyone for the support.”
Teixeira (22-3) suffered the injury last month in a loss to Jon Jones for the UFC title. The defeat was his first since a 2005 loss to Ed Herman.
It is believed that the labrum injury happened in the opening round of their five-round fight for the title, as Jones yanked on the arm of Teixeira to gain an advantage. He also suffered a rib injury in the fight.
So far, no word on when – or against who – Teixeira will return to the Octagon.
