Another episode of “UFC Tonight” has come and gone, and with it, a wealth of interesting news tidbits.
Insider Ariel Helwani provided updates on a number of fighters during his “Inside the Octagon” segment, including former female title contender Sara McMann, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Gray Maynard and many others.
McMann, who lost to Ronda Rousey earlier this year in a battle of former U.S. Olympic medal winners, is targeting a return fight with Sarah Kaufman.
“Sara McMann wants to get back in there quickly after her loss to Ronda Rousey. She wants to fight Sarah Kaufman. But Kaufman wants to fight Miesha Tate or Cat Zingano instead.”
As for Souza, the report stated that he wishes to face either Vitor Belfort or the UFC middleweight champion – either Chris Weidman or Lyoto Machida.
“Jacare Souza just had elbow surgery and his manager says his recovery is done. Now they want a title shot. They’re ready to unleash the beast. They’d like to fight either of the winner of Chris Weidman vs. Lyoto Machida, or fight Vitor Belfort.”
Maynard, another former title contender coming off back-to-back knockouts at the hands of TJ Grant and Nate Diaz, is switching camps from AKA in California to Power MMA in Arizona, it was reported.
“The Bully” once fought Frankie Edgar for the lightweight title on two different occasions, with the first fight going to a draw and the second being a comeback victory for Edgar.
