According to a report by ESPN, the rematch between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson for the UFC light heavyweight title will take place at the end of August.
The card, which would likely be UFC 177, is scheduled for August 30 from Las Vegas. Previous reports had the contest taking place in Gustafsson’s native country of Sweden.
Jones (20-1) earned a decision victory over “The Mauler” last year, agreeing to face Glover Teixeira after instead of an immediate rematch. “Bones” defeated Teixeira earlier this year via decision, as well.
Gustafsson (16-2) has signed on the dotted line, but Jones has yet to according to the report. He earned a win over Jimi Manuwa to cement his status as the next contender.
“Yes, that’s true,” said Manos Terzitane, the manager for Gustafsson. “We were offered to fight on the card at the end of August in Las Vegas. “This is a big fight. The first title fight was the best fight in UFC history. We’re just hoping Jones will accept the fight.”
