UFC 175′s Urijah Faber Explains Decision To Fight On FS1 Instead Of PPV

Urijah Faber

Some have questioned the UFC’s decision to place Urijah Faber on the FOX Sports 1 prelims for UFC 175. Well, turns out Faber actually requested that position on the lineup.

Faber, a former WEC champion and recent contender to the UFC bantamweight title, will face Alex Caceres Saturday night from Las Vegas. In a recent interview with Submission Radio, “The California Kid” explained his desire to compete on FS1 instead of pay-per-view.

“It’s the main event on the free card, the FOX Sports 1 card, so I think as far as exposure goes, I’ll probably get a wider view,” Faber said. “I think the pay-per-view numbers haven’t necessarily been as high as they used to be, so for me, it makes more sense.

“I’m the featured fight on the free card right before the pay-per-view. I don’t get a piece of that pay-per-view anyway, so I’d rather more people watched the fight.”

Faber (30-7) is unbeaten in non-title fights, including four straight wins between losses to Renan Barao in 2012 and this past February. Of his 30 career wins, 17 have been submission victories for Faber.
