UFC president Dana White was in a fun-loving mood after Saturday’s UFC on FOX 12 card.
White even had a lighter moment on the FOX Sports 1 post-fight show when his comments from earlier this week were brought up. The brash boss stated he would walk back to Las Vegas from San Jose if the main event between Robbie Lawler and Matt Brown went the distance.
Wearing Adidas running shoes instead of his usual loafers, White said he hoped to be back home “by Thursday.”
In more important matters, here’s some of the noteworthy quotes from White’s interview:
On Lawler vs. Brown:
“I actually think Matt Brown moves up in the rankings with that fight. I don’t know how he didn’t prove to be the No. 2 guy in the world right now (behind champion Johny Hendricks and Lawler).”
On the fight living up to the hype:
“That fight was awesome. The fifth round was insane. It was a war. You can’t expect two guys who have a title shot on the line to run right after it. Both got hurt in the first round, it was just unbelievable.”
When Lawler might get his rematch vs. Hendricks:
“Robbie has been an absolute stud for us. He is going to have some time off and think about Johny Hendricks. (The first part of 2015) sounds right (for the rematch).”
Anthony Johnson keeping his power while moving up from welterweight to light heavyweight:
“You will never see a guy go from 170 to 205 and have more power. You will never see this again. It is the most fascinating thing ever. I didn’t expect (Johnson to finish Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in 44 seconds).”
Dennis Bermudez winning his seventh straight with a submission win over Clay Guida:
“I am a huge Bermudez fan. (Saturday) night was a big night for him. I can’t wait to see him fight again.”
