Ronda Rousey Wants To Reach The Level Of The Rock In Hollywood

Ronda Rousey

UFC female bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey wants to follow in the footsteps of Dwyane Johnson, better known as “The Rock.”

And that could mean leaving what first brought them to the spotlight.

Johnson was a standout college football player before moving into his role in the WWE as The Rock. He held world titles and became both a fan favorite and heel over the course of his career. However, once Hollywood called, Johnson left pro wrestling and embarked on a movie career.

Sure, he’s made several stops to his old home to help TV and pay-per-view ratings, but acting is Johnson’s full-time profession.

Rousey, who won bronze in judo at the Summer Olympics, is an undefeated MMA fighter and has earned praise for her abilities to balance acting and fighting. “Rowdy,” though, has a goal – and that could drive her away from the UFC.

“I didn’t grow up wanting to be an action star. I just didn’t think it was in the cards,” she said, during a recent interview with ESPN. “Now that it’s a possibility, I’m like, ‘Screw it, I don’t give a shit, if The Rock can become the world’s highest-grossing actor, I can have that same goal.’

‘I want to be the highest-grossing actor in the world someday. I never aspired to be second. I was taught as a kid that you can do whatever you want in this world, so why not be the best in the world at it? Even when I was bartending, I wanted to be the world’s best, most efficient and charming bartender. That’s how I do things.”

Rousey will appear in the upcoming film, “The Expendables 3,” and has other roles on the horizon. She’s also planning on fighting once more this year – if her injuries allow it – or early in 2015.

The thing is The Rock isn’t just an action star, he can act, and he can do comedy as well. So it’ll depend on if she can actually act
