Three Straight For Beneil Dariush

ufc 185

Since a loss in early 2014 to Ramsey Nijem, Beneil Dariush has been on a mission.

The Iranian-born Assyrian-American fighter pushed his win streak to three in a row with a second round submission of Daron Cruickshank Saturday night at UFC 185.

Dariush (10-1) is now 4-1 over five Octagon appearances, including three submission victories.

After just missing on locking up a rear-naked choke early in the second, Dariush stayed strong and was able to secure the hold a second time around.

He dominated Cruickshank in the first, nearly finishing it with a submission – he had attempts at both an armbar and a choke. Cruickshank, though, survived despite getting his body badly damaged with kicks.

“I knew he never threw a cross after a kick,” Dariush said. “He had to reset and that gave me a chance. He’s really good at transitioning back to kickboxing.

“In my mind, I knew he would look for a takedown and I had to stay sharp.”

Cruickshank (16-6) is now 6-4 with one no-contest with the promotion.
