Dana White Receives Warning From Jose Aldo’s Coach: Don’t Let Conor McGregor Touch Champ

Jose Aldo

Jose Aldo remained fairly calm this past weekend, when Conor McGregor got right in his face and smack talked away, but Dana White’s been warned that “Notorious” better not touch the UFC featherweight champ.

Yes, if you saw the “Embedded” episode the UFC posted for the “World Tour” event, then you know that Aldo wasn’t exactly thrilled by McGregor’s antics. The renowned fighter clearly can’t get wait to get his hands on McGregor, and apparently, if the UFC wants that to happen on July 11th–as scheduled–then White’s going to have to be on his toes.

While speaking to FOX Sports 1 after UFC Fight Night 62 this past weekend, White relayed that he’s received the following warning from Aldo’s coach (quote via MMA Junkie.com):

“Andre Pederneiras told me – he’s not joking, he’s dead serious – that I better make sure that Conor McGregor does not touch Jose Aldo once during this entire tour,” White said. “The level of disrespect that’s coming out of (McGregor’s) mouth will not be followed by the level of disrespect by him being touched.”

“I better sleep, eat my Wheaties and be ready on this trip to keep these two from touching each other, which I’m very conscious of,” White said. “It’s going to fun. It’s going to be interesting, and I can’t wait for that fight. It’s going to be the biggest featherweight fight ever.”

Yup. It’s going to be a huge fight and it’s also going to be a very interesting / intense media tour. Barring some, unforeseen development, you can pretty much bank on McGregor prodding Aldo at every event. It will also be interesting to see whether McGregor’s shtick gets old with some fans, and bring supporters to Aldo.

Aldo is coming off a UD win over rival Chad Mendes in October, while McGregor stopped Dennis Siver in January to lock up his title shot.

UFC 189 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 11th.
