Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima will return to the cage this July, taking on former tournament winner Andrey Koreshkov at Bellator 140, officials announced recently.
Set for July 17 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, the main card will air live on Spike TV.
Lima (26-5) won the title last year when he topped Rick Hawn. He was expected to defend vs. Paul Daley, but a training injury forced him to the sidelines.
“Douglas Lima is an incredible champion who is in for one of the toughest fights of his life against Koreshkov,” Bellator president Scott Coker said. “When the rest of this card is announced, we’ll have put together one of the greatest showcases of welterweight talent ever assembled on one night.”
Koreshkov (17-1) is on a four-fight win streak that includes the Season 10 tournament crown.
The only other bout confirmed for the event features Chris Honeycutt vs. Paul Bradley.
