Josh Barnett, a former UFC heavyweight champion, last fought in late 2013 when he was knocked out by Travis Browne.
And as it stands now, it will be almost two full years before Barnett (33-7) returns to the Octagon.
On a recent edition of “UFC Tonight,” it was reported that Barnett has landed a movie role that will keep him from being able to train and accept a fight until the third or fourth quarter of 2015.
According to Barnett’s IMDB.com page, he will appear on “Absolution” alongside Steven Seagal this year, while “Chuck Hank and the San Diego Twins” is currently in post-production for a 2016 release.
Since returning to the UFC in 2013, Barnett has fought just twice, defeating Frank Mir and losing to Browne. He won the UFC heavyweight title in 2002 with a second round TKO over Randy Couture, but was stripped of the belt for testing positive for banned substances.
