As Bethe Correia gets closer and closer to facing Ronda Rousey on August 1st, the bantamweight contender isn’t easing up, in terms of her verbal attacks.
Correia has been throwing verbal shots the UFC champ’s way for some time now (and more recently she had to apologize for some of them), which no doubt contributed to her earning a title shot.
Of course, the main reason the Brazilian’s been tapped for the golden opportunity is because Correia has won all three of her UFC bouts, and has defeated two of Rousey’s friends while doing so (Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler).
Well, Correia recently appeared on “The MMA Hour”, and here is some of what the “Pitbull” had to say (quotes via MMA Fighting.com):
“Ronda, you’re not the superheroine you think you are. You are a farce, and I’ll prove it on August 1,” Correia said through a translator. “I’ll give you the biggest beating of your life. I’ll make you suffer pain, I’ll make you cry in pain. I’ll humiliate you, and you’ll leave your belt here. You’re not a champion. I’m a champion. I invite you to try your MMA game because your judo is not going to work here. I’m gonna beat you up and everyone is going to see it.”
How about that? Now will Rousey and her legion of supporters be intimidated by these comments? No. Probably not, but it is interested to hear a fighter talk this way about Rousey, who has crushed pretty much everyone she’s faced.
Correia also added in the interview that she believes Rousey is “afraid to get hit” and that’s why she uses her world class Judo. That’s an interesting way of looking at it…although, clearly Rousey’s doing something right.
Correia and Rousey will throw down on August 1st at UFC 190, which will go down at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
