Claudia Gadelha is booked to fight Jessica Aguilar at UFC 190, and the last woman to beat her, Joanna J?drzejczyk, will be cheering for her. Why’s that?

Well, Gadelha and J?drzejczyk fought last December, and the latter emerged with the split decision win. Gadelha has yet to fight since then, while J?drzejczyk has gone on to score impressive stoppage wins over Carla Esparza and Jessica Penne, and has laid claim to the strawweight belt.

J?drzejczyk recently appeared on “The MMA Hour”, and the rising star made it clear she wants another crack at Gadelha, even though she defeated her once before. After admitting she’ll be rooting for Gadelha at UFC 190, so that a rematch might materialize, the Polish star relayed this (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I’m a different fighter right now, ” J?drzejczyk said. “Claudia Gadelha, she takes a few steps back. She hasn’t fought for a long time. I’m different now, I’m going to win easy this time. I”m better. Now I know I have KO power, my wrestling ia different, getting be”I’m a different fighter right now,” she said. “Claudia Gadelha, she takes a few steps back. She hasn’t fought for a long time. I’m different now, I’m going to win easy this time. I”m better. Now I know I have KO power, my wrestling ia different, getting better and better. I really can play on the ground even better than before.”tter and better. I really can play on the ground even better than before.”

That’s pretty impressive stuff no? Clearly J?drzejczyk isn’t happy with the fact she narrowly defeated Gadelha before, and wants that fight back. J?drzejczyk also said that it doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that Gadelha took a later swing at her, following the final bell.

Considering that Gadelha is currently ranked #2, and the former champ Esparza is #1, a rematch could definitely be in the cards at some point. It should be noted, however, that Aguilar is a very talented fighter in her own right. “Jag” has long been considered as one of the top 115 pound fighters on the planet, and heads to the UFC having won 10 straight bouts.

UFC 190 will go down on August 1st in Rio de Janeiro. In the main event, bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey will battle Bethe Correia.
