Youngster Frankie Perez Elects To Retire After UFN 74

Frankie Perez landed a right, finished Sam Stout and thanked his mom all in the matter of a moment.

Perez connected flush on Stout’s chin, dropping the Canadian in the prelim main event at UFC Fight Night 74 Sunday night.

After the fight was stopped, Perez (10-2) jumped on top of the cage and screamed “I told you mom.”

The win was the first inside the Octagon for Perez, who lost via third round finish to Johnny Case earlier this year. He had scored a win over Tom Marcellino in the World Series of Fighting last September before signing with the UFC.

After stating the bout was “a dream come true,” Perez announced that he was retiring from fighting.

“I’m done,” he said. “I’m 26 years old, but I’m done putting my family through this. Thank you, thank you to all my fans.”

Stout (20-12-1) suffered his third straight loss, all via knockout, and two inside of the first minute of the first round.

“I fought one of my favorite fighters of all-time,” Perez said. “I have been a fan of his for a long time. Kids, stay true to your dreams.”
