Michael Bisping will finally get his shot to prove himself against the elite, as “The Count” welcomes Anderson Silva back to the Octagon.
The middleweight encounter was announced Thursday as the main event for UFC Fight Night 83 from London. The event is scheduled to air on UFC Fight Pass February 27.
Previously, Bisping had been set to face off against Gegard Mousasi. When that bout was announced, though, it was not tabled for the headline role. Now we know why.
Silva, the former long-time UFC middleweight champion, was suspended earlier this year after failing his drug test following a return against Nick Diaz. “The Spider” had won the bout originally before the decision was changed to a no-contest.
Mousasi is expected to remain on the card against an opponent to be determined in the co-main event.
