Yep, Brian Ortega Is “T-City”

ufc 195

It took Brian Ortega a few rounds to get going, but once “T-City” did, it was all over at UFC 195.

Ortega locked up a third round submission win to remain unbeaten in his career over Diego Brandao Saturday night. It was the fifth submission victory of his career, with four of them coming via triangle choke.

“They call me T-City for a reason, triangle city,” Ortega said. “I train with the Gracie brothers and they are on me like blankets. We train all the time to go from choke-to-choke-to-choke.”

The 24-year-old Ortega (10-0) has scored two straight finishes since a no-contest was ruled in a win over Mike De La Torre. Prior to that, he had earned wins competing for Resurrection Fighting Alliance.

Brandao, a former Ultimate Fighter winner, used his power to keep the 24-year-old backing up. But once it went to the canvas, it was all Ortega.

“You think you are out of the fire but you’re not,” Ortega said.

Ortega finished with 47 total strikes, including 43 significant ones, while Brandao was 52 of 121 striking with two successful takedowns.
