Tate (18-5) is unbeaten over her last five, including a March submission of then-champion Holly Holm to win the belt. She has also scored victories over Jessica Eye, Sara McMann, Rin Nakai and Liz Carmouche since her last loss, which was to Ronda Rousey.
Nunes (12-4) sports a 3-0 record since a defeat to Cat Zingano in earning herself a shot at the title. That run features a submission of McMann and a TKO over Shayna Baszler.
