“Mighty Mouse” Becomes First To Defeat Henry Cejudo

Demetrious Johnson makes no bones about it.

There is no game plan when he steps inside the Octagon.

The reigning UFC flyweight champion became the fifth fighter in UFC history to win 10 consecutive fights, defending his title for the eighth time with a first round finish of Henry Cejudo in the co-main event of UFC 197 Saturday night.

“No game plan,” he said. “Just come in here and fight.”

Johnson (24-2-1) has turned back the efforts of John Dodson, Joseph Benavidez and everyone else the promotion has thrown at him. Cejudo (10-1), though, was suppose to be the toughest challenge to date, seeing as he won gold in freestyle wrestling at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

“Mighty Mouse,” though, found a home with the clinch and hurt Cejudo with a shot early in the first round.

“Once I got him off balance with a left knee to the liver, I knew it was over,” Johnson said.

While many have questioned just how good the 125-pound king is, Johnson made sure to remark “I am the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.”

His eighth consecutive title defense moved him behind only Anderson Silva (10) and Georges St-Pierre (nine) on the all-time UFC list.
