Yair Rodriguez is a former winner of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America.
However, that likely will not compare years from now to the knockout that Rodriguez recorded to start the UFC 197 main card Saturday night.
In a bout he was controlling, Rodriguez saw an opening and went for it, landing a jumping roundhouse kick on Andre Fili and earning his fourth consecutive win with the UFC.
“I train hard,” he said. “I go hard every day, every single day. My people is here, thank you guys.
“I just want to keep doing well.”
The 23-year-old added Fili to a resume that includes wins over Dan Hooker, Charles Rosa and Leonardo Morales inside the Octagon. He is currently on a five-fight win streak overall dating back to 2013.
Fili (15-4) fell to 2-3 over his last five fights.
