It didn’t happen when originally planned, but Phil Davis finally scored a victory over Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal.
Davis, a former UFC fighter, earned the decision in the main event of Bellator 154 Saturday night. The card aired live on Spike TV, going up against UFC 198’s early prelims.
With his wrestling and length advantage, “Mr. Wonderful” was able to control Lawal, a former Strikeforce champion.
The two were originally set to meet in the finals of a tournament, but Lawal was removed. Davis secured his status as the No. 1 contended to Liam McGeary’s title.
In the co-main event, Saad Awad knocked out Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos.
