The last three times Jorge Masvidal went to the scorecards, he was dealt a crushing blow.
Three split decision defeats to Lorenz Larkin, Benson Henderson and Al Iaquinta have hurt Masvidal and kept him from gaining momentum. At UFC 201 Saturday night, he made sure there would be no controversy, scoring a decision on all three scorecards vs. Ross Pearson.
After rocking the Brit in the opening moments, Masvidal (30-11) was forced to weather the storm from there on out. He did, landing over 100 significant strikes in the 15-minute contest.
“He was a tough fighter,” Masvidal said. “I thought I had him out there (in the first).”
Along with the three tough losses since 2015, Masvidal also finished Cezar Ferreira in 2015. He is 5-3 over his last eight.
“I’ll be back in five-or-six weeks,” he said. “Look out for me.”
